Since we cannot reasonably attempt to replace that missing instruction, please consider using online lessons to study the rules for logarithms. As you've noted in your book (and probably in your friends' class notes), the following are the basic log rules:
. . . . .log<sub>b</sub>(mn) = log<sub>b</sub>(m) + log<sub>b</sub>(n)
. . . . .log<sub>b</sub>(m/n) = log<sub>b</sub>(m) - log<sub>b</sub>(n)
. . . . .log<sub>b</sub>(m<sup>n</sup>) = n log<sub>b</sub>(m)
For examples and clarification, please study one or a few of the many lessons available
online. Once you have a grasp of the basics (so you
do know "where to start"), please attempt the exercise. If you get stuck, or are unsure of your work, please reply showing all of your steps, and we'll be glad to help you move on.
