I'm trying to assist my son with his algebra homework but have no clue as to what they're asking or how to do it.

Questions are: "If the measure of an acute angle is 5x + 18, what are the possible values of x?
"If the measure of an obtuse angle is 5x + 18, what are the possible values of x?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Re: Sons Algebra Homework Help

1)
an acute angle is one less than 90 degrees
5x+18<90
5x<72
x<14 .4 degrees

I do not know if the instructor is only using angles in first quadrant

A obtuse angle is greater than 90 but less than 180
90<5x+18< 180
72< 5x < 162
14.4 degrees < x< 32.4 degrees
