I may be overthinking the problem...I need to know how many cases of pneumonia have occurred per 100 patient days in a hospital unit during a calendar year. The number of pneumonia diagnosis cases is 19 and the number of patient days is 1806. is the correct equation 19/1806?

Not quite but you're on the right track. There's 19 cases over 1806, so 19/1806 gives the average number of cases per day. But that's per one day. You want to know how many, on average, occur every 100 days. Can you see the last step you'd need to take to obtain the desired answer?
