Hello all,
I am in need of some serious help in solving this particular integral problem. I'm not asking it to be done for me, just looking for guidance.
The profile of a gear tooth is approximated by the trigonometric equation y(x)= k/2 (1-cos(2pix/L)).
a) Estimate the area A using eight triangles of equal width deltaX = L/8
b) Calculate the exact area by integration.
Attached is a picture of my problem and the graph.
So far I have n=8... I think. Would L=2pi?
Thank you in advance.
