Intermediate Algebra: solving 4x/9 + x = 6

I don't think that I put this together in the correct way.
4x/9 + x = 6
This is what I have done.
4x/9 * 6/x = cross out both x's, 6 becomes a 2, 9 becomes a 3.
4*2 = 8/ 3
I hope that you can understand this.

I hope this is right.
4x/9 + x = 6
9(4x/9 + x) = 6(9)
4x + 9x = 54
9x+4x=13
x = 54/13
 
I think you made a typo on your second last line. It should be:
13x = 54

But judging from your answer, you probably just made a mistake typing it up. Good job :wink:
