First, convert to sine and cosine:
[imath]sec(40) = \dfrac{1}{cos(40)}[/imath]

[imath]csc(50) = \dfrac{1}{sin(50)}[/imath]

Thus, the question is, "How do cos(40) and sin(50) compare?" (And, yes, they are indeed equal.)

Can you finish from here?

if a+b = 90, a>=0 and b>0, then sina=sinb. Therefore 1/sina=1/cosb so csca=secb.

The question: "Is sec(40 degrees) less than or equal to csc(50 degrees)?"

These are trigonometric functions, so the angles should be inside grouping
symbols. In this problem you are not working with radians, so you should have the
degree symbol with the number, or have the word "degrees" with the number.

In my opinion, if you have handy access to the degree symbol, it is more compact
in writing, and it looks better than my illustration in my top line.
