Jane wants to carpet a rectangle room that is 8'X10' ft. The carpet she chose costs 3.99 per square foot. How much will it cost Jane to carpet the room?

A=l * w
A=8 * 10
A= 80ft^2

a ft^2 of carpet =$3.99
80 * 3.99 = 319.20
jane will have to fork out $319.2 to carper her room.

is this correct?

A=l * w
A=8 * 10 \(\displaystyle \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \)Units are missing. The l and w amounts are switched.
A= 80ft^2

a ft^2 of carpet =$3.99 \(\displaystyle \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \)It costs, and it is per sq. ft.
80 * 3.99 = 319.20\(\displaystyle \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \) Units are missing.
jane will have to fork out $319.2 \(\displaystyle \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \)Keep the cents (two decimal places).

Suggested correction:

A = l*w
A = (10 ft.)*(8 ft.)
A = 80 sq. ft.

1 sq. ft. of carpet costs $3.99 per sq. ft.
(80 sq. ft.)*($3.99 per sq. ft.) = $319.20
Jane will pay $319.20 to carpet the room.
