Kepler's equation M = x - e sin(x): need history

Kepler used the equation M = x - e sin(x) when trying to determine the orbits of the planets. Does anyone know a website that will help me explore the history of this equation? Google is not helping very much.

I should have phrased that differently. I got many hits on Google too but I wasn't getting information about the equation.

What do you mean by needing "the history" of the equation? Are you looking for a "history of physics" resource that might discuss the development and early utilization? A proof or derivation of the equation? Or what? (I'm not understanding what is the mathematical part of the post, I guess.)

The history of this equation was just a general history. The mathematical part of this was after I found the history. I am to use matlab, write code for the bisection method, and use the given values to solve with my program.

I think he just wanted us to have some knowledge about where this equation originated.
