Hi,

I find the risk ratio (relative risk) much easier to grasp than the odds ratio but sometimes only the odds ratio (OR) is indicated within a set of results.

So my question is: Is there any rule of thumb or a rough guideline as to what can be considered a very strong, strong, medium, weak or very weak association based on the odds ratio (provided that p is below alpha=0.05 and the 95% CI does not contain 1)?

I am talking mainly about odds ratios below 1. What about odds ratios of 0.8, 0.9 and 0.95 for example?
