I know that the ideal I generated by x^2+1 is not maximal in Z[x] since Z[x]/<x^2+1> is not a field. However in order to gain a better insight into this result, I would be grateful if someone would demonstrate for me a proper ideal in Z[x] that contains this ideal I.
