find the difference quotient,

f(x-h) - f(x) / h

h is not equal to 0

f(x) = -2x - 7

\(\displaystyle \L\\\lim_{h\to\0}\frac{f(x+h)-f(x)}{h}\)

\(\displaystyle \L\\\lim_{h\to\0}\frac{(-2(x+h)-7)-(-2x-7)}{h}\)

Now, simplify and find the limit. It is rather obvious once you simplify.

Actually, as posted, the exercise doesn't ask for the limit. This is neither trig nor calculus; it's just algebra.
