Hi, I need help finding y as a function of x where the constant C is a positive number for In(y-1)+In(y+1)=-x+c. Thanks!

First, you could note that \(\displaystyle \L\\\ln(y-1)+ln(y+1)=ln((y-1)(y+1))=ln(y^{2}-1)\)

In(y-1)+In(y+1)...
Has your class not covered logarithms yet? (You are using "eye-enn" to stand for what must almost certainly be "natural log" -- that is, the "ell-enn", no upper-case --, which suggests an unfamiliarity with the topic, is why I ask.)

We'll be glad to find for you links to lessons on logs and such, if this would be helpful. Thank you.

Eliz.
