I need help answering this question and understanding HOW to answer it for future reference.

The sum of two polynomials is x(squared)-8x+1. If one of the polynomials is 2x(squared)-x+1, what is the other polynomial?

Please answer back as soon as possible.

Hint: The sum of two numbers is 100. If one of the numbers is 54, what is the other number?

What process did you use to find that other number?

Now use the same process with the polynomials!

Um, if you're suggesting that I subtract one of the polynomials with the sum, I've tried that and it didn't add up correctly when I checked it.

Never mind, I did the question again and it checked out. Thanks anyway, though
