Suppose that of 2000 students, 1100 take math, 500 take science, and 300 students take both math and science. What is the probability that a student selected at random takes math or science?

In general, [imath]\mathcal{P}(M\cup S)=\mathcal{P}(M)+\mathcal{P}(S)-\mathcal{P}(M\cap S)[/imath].
Now you must post your work or explain what it is that you don't understand.
