i need to solve x^lny - y^lnx

apparently the answer is 0, but i'm having a hard time figuring out why, thanks in advance.

Until we know what is on the other side of the "equals" sign (none of which was included within your post), there is no way to attempt to solve for either of the variables.

Please reply with the complete equation, along with the variable for which you are supposed to be solving. Thank you.

Eliz.

P.S. It is unlikely that solving the equation, either for x in terms of y or else for y in terms of x, would lead to an answer of "(variable) = (zero)". Please proof the solution; you may have been reading a number off the wrong line in the solutions.

Please include the ENTIRE problem statement. "Solve" requires an equation. "Simplify" is a little different, requiring no equation.

x^lny - y^lnx =
eln(x^ln(y)) - eln(y^ln(x)) =
eln(y)*ln(x) - eln(x)*ln(y)

Zero (0) seems a little more obvious from there.
