Hi, first off sorry if this is in the wrong place. I'm trying to solve a problem and not exactly sure if I'm right or how to work this sort of thing out in the future.

Problem:

You have ran a race 401 separate times, your average time to complete a race is 2,189 seconds. Later on, your total races is 445, but your average time is now 2,292 seconds.

What was my average time for the last 44 races?

Ok I think I have worked it out, correct me if I am wrong..

401*2189=877789
(44+401)*2292=1019940

1019940-877789=142151

142151/44=3230.7

Correct - nice work (since the previous average had 4 significant figures - you could call this average = 3231)
