a professor was interested in exploring the differences between OU, OSU, and UCO student's rates of satisfaction regarding their academic experience during the covid 19 pandemic. Base on the scenario, what is the research question, the null and the alternative hypothesis. would you conduct a one tail or two tail test?

Please show us what you have tried and exactly where you are stuck.

Hint: "...exploring the differences between..." These words are VERY important.

Ho: There is no significant difference between OU, OSU, and UCO students' satisfaction rate.
Ha: There is a significant difference between OU, OSU, and UCO students' satisfaction rate.

To find if there is a difference: You will have to use F-test/ one way ANOVA to understand the variation between the groups and within the group. P.S : DO NOT use 2 sample t-test here to compare 2 groups at a time. If we retain the null hypothesis based on 3 individual t test results (using conditional probability), the overall alpha value becomes higher than the alpha considered for each t test.

If Ha is retained, then
To find which group's mean vary from the other: You will have to compare 2 groups at a time (eg. OU and OSU) and perform a 2 sample t test (two tailed).
