ok this is what i have y^2=12x, and i need to find:
a)focus coordinates
b)directrix equation

ok, im in 10th grade, but i cant start the problem because i dont understand why there is only y^2=12x and i am used to the big equations... please i need help

If you are a little confused, a good way to start is to make a small xy table and plot a few points. HINT: The vertex is at (0,0) and the parabola open up sideways.
2nd HINT: Try taking the square root of both sides of the equation, then plot it on a graphing calculator.
