Consider a population data set with an unknown shape, but known mean of 18.2 and standard deviation of 2. Sketch the distribution an Find:
a) the percentage of observations between 12.2 and 24.2
b) the percentage of observations between 16.2 and 20.2

What have you tried? How far have you gotten? Where are you stuck?

For instance, you've refreshed your memory on what a "standard deviation" is and what the "mean" is. You've found the graph or chart in your book where it shows how much of the data, as a percentage, is within one, two, and three standard deviations of the mean. You've added and subtracted, and... then what?

Please be complete. Thank you!

Eliz.

It's not possible to calculate and/or sketch the distribution with only the mean and standard deviation while the shape is not known.
