I'm trying to solve a problem and I'm having trouble figuring it out.

The problem is this- Suppose you had a life-size map, made of paper. The thickness of the paper is 0.1 millimetres. You fold it in half 40 times. How thick would the folded paper be? Please give your answer in metres, round to the nearest metre, and exclude any punctuation or extra information.

You omitted a bit:

It could be viewed as unethical to provide solutions before this most-recent contest ends, and recent Neopets posts would imply this. So either show your work, or else wait until after the contest closes to post your follow-up questions.

Thank you.

Anyway, wouldn't work if you FOLD; you gotta CUT in order to get proper height;
get a large sheet of paper (preferably square, rectangular will do) , borrow mom's
scissors, cut the thing in half.
Now cut each of the 2 pieces in half (put 'em on top of each other first); now you
have 4 pieces after 2 cuts.
Similarly, put 'em all on top of each other and perform cut#3.
Carry on until you've performed dissection #40: shouldn't take you long: at a
generous allowance of 15 seconds per cut: 15 * 40 = 600 seconds = 10 minutes.
Let us know how many pieces you ended up with.

It's one of the advantages of being old: You've been "around the block once or twice", and have seen this abuse before.

The Neopians' abuse of tutoring forums is often excruciatingly bad, with a dozen or more rude posts of the same "take-home math quiz question that I have to get in order to pass and go to college ASAP NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!!!!" posts made in the same day, sometimes within minutes of each other. (Yes, they lie and pretend that this is a math question. Why do you think these recent posters stripped out the identifying information?)

The Neopians never show any effort, and frequently get quite hostile if you do anything other than instantly reply with the answer. (They don't like it if you waste their time showing the steps and reasoning. They only get points for the answer.)

The misuse of services has reached such levels that many tutoring forums are banning Neopets posts, and sometimes Neopians, entirely.
