Disease A was reported by local area hospitals in beginning in December 28, 1998.
Initial symptoms were mainly bloody diarrhea, fever, weakness. Some later had fainting, hypotension.
It was traced back to a pot luck holiday party held in December 23 at a paper products sales company of 256 employees. All of the employees attended that holiday party.
One person died. The rest made full recoveries. No one who recovered from the illness showed any further symptoms.
All data from the hospitals were compiled into the following chart:
