I have to construct and solve a linear system of two equations that would make the determination. My data is the amount of calcium and iron for daily health. Which is 8milligrams a day for iron and 1,000milligrams a day for calcium and yes it has to be in milligrams. The only two food items that I can use a 10oz package of broccoli and a 1/2 cup of frozen corn. now the corn has 1,540mg of iron but has no calcium and the broccoli has 720 mg of iron and calcium. Now I have to take this information and solve a linear system of two equations to get my nutrients per day.
I don't know how to put this in a form of a linear equation but i do think i solved it by doing this
Ok let work on the corn first.
1,540(x) = 18 First Iwould divide by itself and 8 to get .011 = x
So I’m going to eat .011 milligrams of corn to get my dailyrecommended value of iron. Which Iwouldn’t get any calcium because corn doesn’t have any in it.
Now let’s do the broccoli.
720(y) = 1,000 FirstI would divide by itself and 720 to get 1.38 = y
I would of used x and y in my broccoli but I’ve alreadyreach the amount of iron in my corn that I need daily.
It looks like there is still not enough broccoli in a 10ozpackage to meet the daily requirements of calcium. I hope I did this right.
If anyone could help that would be great
