OK so my math tutor is gone for a week and i am compleatly lost on my new content. I have 2 Questions I have trouble with if you could help.

2x^2 - 3x - 14
____________ = F(x)

x^2 - 2x - 8

I have to find the Vertical Horozontal and slant asymtopes if there are any...also any holes and the x and y intercept.

For this Question I have to solve for x algebraically..

x-1 x-2
__ = __
x+3 x-3

any help yall could give me I would greatly apreciate thank you very much

Your formatting is a bit ambiguous, so I will state below my assumption of your meaning.

. . . . .1) Find the vertical and slant asymptotes, if any,
. . . . .and the intercepts of the following function:

. . . . .f(x) = [2x2 - 3x - 14] / [x2 - 2x - 8]

. . . . .Also state if the graph has any "holes".

Vertical asymptotes are the zeroes of the denominator.

Slant asymptotes are only a consideration when the numerator's degree is one greater than the denominator's.

(I'm surprised you weren't asked for the horizontal asymptote.)

To find the x-intercept(s), plug "0" in for "y" (or "f(x)", in this case), and solve.

To find the y-intercept, plug "0" in for "x", and solve.

To find "holes", factor and see if there are any common factors which could "cancel", thus creating a function equivalent but for the undefined point you just eliminated.

. . . . .2) Solve the following equation algebraically:

. . . . .(x - 1) / (x + 3) = (x - 2) / (x - 3)

Cross-multiply. Solve the resulting quadratic equation.

If you get stuck, please reply showing all of your steps.

Thank you.

Eliz.
