I'm trying to figure out what they're getting at here..
30+40= tens+ tens= tens= ca someone help me fill in the blanks and tell me the point of the problem they are teaching

30 is 3 lots of tens
40 is 4 lots of tens
3+4 = 7
or 7 tens = 70

3 4 7 70


as 30 is 3 x 10 or 3 tens etc

..............3..................4...................7...................70

.........(30 = 3 x 10.....(40 =4 x 10)....(3+4).......(7 x10 =70)

This should read better.
