The sum of the page numbers on the facing pages of a book is 81. What are the numbers?

The number on the left page is?
The number on the right pate is?

can someone please break this down for me?

To me this question is a little ambiguous.

Is page number one on the left or the right?

If I am inderstanding this question correctly then if the first page were turned the pages would be numbered two and three. Therefore, the sum of the facing pages would equal five.

So what two facing pages would add to 81?

Hint: The sum of facing pages 20 and 21 add to 41.

Hope this helps. Please clarify if I have misunderstood the problem.

Let n be the page number on the left. Then the page number on the right (In English, at least) would be n+1. Their sum is
n+(n+1)= 81.
