in my text book you are given:
m= 4/3 and a coordinate (2,-3)

then place it into point slope form then solve it as y=mx+b

so I had:

(y-(-3))= 4/3(x-2)
y+3 = 4/3x -8/3
y= 4/3x -8/3-9/3
y= 4/3x - 17/3

but the answer is listed as y= 4x/3+1/3

where am I going wrong?

thanks

If the problem is as you give, then you haven't done any thing wrong- your answer is correct and the "given" answer is wrong. The "given" answer would be correct if the point (not "coordinate") were (2, 3). Check to make sure you haven't copied the problem wrong.

Strong recommendation: Space out your addition, subtraction signs, and equal signs. In general, space out all appropriate characters horizontally.

Place grouping symbols around a fraction that is multiplied by a variable or variable expression to avoid ambiguous expressions.

y - (-3) = (4/3)(x - 2)
y + 3 = (4/3)x - 8/3
y = (4/3)x - 8/3 - 9/3
y = (4/3)x - 17/3
