Poisson alternatives

Hello,
As a part of my Mathematics course, I am writing a paper on the probability of my favourite Youtuber video uploads. In the investigation, I applied the Poisson distribution for the upload period of two years, where I took the defined parameter to be the mean numbers of videos per week and k=[0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7]( I couldn't put the proper brackets).
My teacher told me that only the Poisson distribution is not enough and that I should also try using the negative binomial distribution or some other type. I do not understand how I can apply the negative binomial. I also looked into the Polya distribution and the Poisson-inverse Gaussian model, but I cannot see how they fit. Do you have any suggestions on how I can apply the negative binomial or if there is a better alternative?
Thank you for your time!
