Polar Curve Equations

I am taking Calculus AB, but I am self-studying the BC portion. None of the math teachers at my school know what Calculus BC entails. As such, I am somewhat confused about everything I need to learn. Specifically, I was wondering if I need to memorize all of the polar curve equations (such as roses, cardioids, lemniscates,etc.) for the purposes of sketch-making on non-calculator problems.
