I am trying to help my son with some homework, but we are stuck on a few problems. One is....

Use the polynomial function f(x) +1/3x^3-3x^2+7x+36 to answer the following if they exist

Relative minimum
Relative maximum
Intervals where f(x) is increasing
Intervals where f(x) is decreasing

Does your son know what the sign of the function's 1st derivative says about its behavior?

What does your son know about the 1st & 2nd derivative tests for extrema?
