positive integers: how many between sqrt(8), sqrt(72)?

How many positive integers have a value between the square root of 8 and the square root of 72? I got 6 integers between 2.8 and 8.48.

Note: There is a quick wasy to find a rough approximation of your bounds (if, say, your calculator weren't handy) and, since you're working with whole numbers, "rough" is probably good enough! :wink:

Recall that sqrt[4] = 2 and sqrt[9] = 3, so sqrt[8] must be between 2 and 3 (specifically, greater than 2). Also, sqrt[64] = 8 and sqrt[81] = 9, so sqrt[72] must be between 8 and 9 (specifically, less than 9). :idea:
