For 8.1: Solve \(r^2+6^2=(r+4)^2\)

Please show us what you tried, so we can see where you are going wrong or getting stuck.
In each case, you need to write an equation based on the appropriate theorem and solve for the variable. For the first, assuming you have to use the theorems you mention, you will want to extend the line through the center to the far edge, and label the added part r.
Don't expect the numerical answers to be pretty! You may be correct and think you couldn't be.
