My daughter had a math worksheet to do last night and there was one problem she could not understand, nor did I. Attached was a menu with items listed along with $ amounts. The beginning letter of each was used as a variable in each problem(example: hamburger=h, Fries=f, etc...). Can you please help us?
The instructions mentioned that the equations listed had benn written with an incorrect letter, therefore we had to solve to find the amount of the incorrect letter in order to identify the correct item menu, and then list which letter should have been used to make the equation correct. the letter z was the variable which was not associated with the items on the menu.

(I only listed the info needed for the problem, when I attempted to solve this problem, the answer I got was a negative amount , which did not match any item on the menu.)

Menu: Hamburger = $1.85, Small Soda= $.95

Solve in order to identify the incorrect letter listed.[/b]8h + 7(s + z) = $19.40

I get a negative amount too - could be a typo somewhere.
