Hi I have 2 questions for which I was looking for an answer:

  • Your client employs 2 cleaning services A Company and B Company. A Company cleans the properties north of the river and B Company cleans those in the south. The properties are split evenly between them. A Company cleans 50 properties an hour and starts at 9am. B Company cleans 30 properties an hour and starts at 8am. Today one of your guests arrives early at 10am. What is the probability that the guest’s room has been cleaned?
  • Today both cleaning agencies call in and let you know there has been a workers strike. A Company has shut for the day and cannot clean any properties, B Company has managed to do half the properties it was contracted to do. Your inspection manager leaves you a voicemail and says he’s inspected 3 properties, all on the same side of the river and none have been cleaned. What are the odds that he is on the north side of the river?.

The first question as missing information- how many properties there are altogether.

"A Company cleans 50 properties an hour and starts at 9am."
So by 10:00 A company will have cleaned 50 properties

"B Company cleans 30 properties an hour and starts at 8am."
So by 10:00 B company will have cleaned 60 properties.

A total of 50+ 60= 110 properties have been cleaned but to answer the question you have to know what percentage of all properties that is.
