Hello, I have a difficult question (to me at least), and I need help on it.

This is the information given:
(x-3i) (5+yi) = 28-3i

The question is to find the value of x+y.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Expand the LHS into a+bi form, then equate the real and imaginary parts. This will give you a non-linear system of equations in x and y, which you can solve. The work will involve a quadratic equation, and there will be two solutions.

Hello, I have a difficult question (to me at least), and I need help on it.
This is the information given:

The question is to find the value of x+y.
\((x-3i)(5+yi)=(5x+3y)+(xy-15)i\)
Now real part equals real part and imaginary part equals imaginary part.
