property used to say 'If 8>sqrt{6}, sqrt{6}>-5, then..

If 8>/sqrt{6} and /sqrt{6}>-5, then 8>-5.

I can't figure out if it's transitive or substitution... is it either one of those at all? :(

Well....the transitive property of inequality says

if a >= b and b>= c, then a >= c

Does this look like what you have here?
