Start with solving the homogeneous equation → dv/dt +2v = 0, then add the particular solution.

Why the initial condition is function [MATH]y[/MATH] while the differential equation is function [MATH]v(t)[/MATH]?

By the way, it is a separable differential equation which can be solved easily with elementary techniques.
