i have real trouble adding fractions and adding whole numbers to fractions.

so what i need help with is this...

what (2/5 + 2) is and then the answer of that (+ 5)

its for a problem about writing it in point-slope form [y-y1=m(x-x1)]
with the slope = 2/5 and the given points (5,-2)

thanks

Since \(\displaystyle \frac{2}{5}\,+\,2\) does not, in fact, equal 5, I must not be understanding what the exercise is meant to be.

Please reply with the full and exact text of the exercise, the complete instructions, and a clear listing of the steps you have tried thus far. Thank you.

im sorry, i should have worded it better, it is (2/5) + 2, then the answer of that is what i need to add 5 to

heres the problem..

Write the point-slope form of the line. Then use that equation to put it in slope intercept form
given: slope= 2/5
points = (5, -2)

after plugging it all in i got y-5=2/5(x+2)

then distribute y-5=2/5x=? 2/5 + 2?

then 2/5 +2, +5?

i cant add fractions! i know its sad...
