Hello, Janet!

The ratio of the lengths of corresponding sides of two similar polygons is 3:7.
What is the ratio of their areas?
The ratio of the areas is the <u>squares</u> of the sides.

The answer is .32:72 .= .9:49

If these were similiar solids (say, pyramids),
. . their volumes are in the ratio of the <u>cubes</u> of the sides.

The ratio of the volumes would be . 33:73 .= .27:343

WOW!

Soroban,

I learned something NEW from you today about squares and cubes.
Thank you so much for the great hint.
