May some one help me please.

1/u-4 + 2 u^2-16 = 3/u+4

I've been trying to solve this problem and I keep getting 4 as my answer and that is incorrect. Becasue the back of my book says the answer is 9. I don't know where I went wrong.

We'll be glad to help you find any errors in your work, but you'll need to post that work first.

When you reply with a clear listing of your steps, please include a clarification of the original equation. For instance, "1/u-4" means "(1/u) - 4", but you might mean "1/(u - 4)". Using grouping symbols could serve to make your meaning clear.

Thank you.

Eliz.
