OK so I have to take this word problem and turn it into quadratic formula and solve it.
I have NO idea where to even start

A rectangular prism has sides in the ration of 1:1:2. The surface area of the prism is 50cm squared. Find the length of each side and volume of the prism (leave in simplest form).

so you start by drawing a rectangular prism and label the sides as a:a:2a (since the ratio of the sides are 1:1:2)View attachment 3952

you know its surface area is 50 cm squared and based on the diagram, you can form an equation to solve for a.

50 = 4(2a x a) + 2(a x a)

Once you know the value of a, you can find the length of the sides and use the lengths to find volume.
