an=12an1a_n = \dfrac{1}{2} a_{n-1}

an12an1=0a_n - \dfrac{1}{2} a_{n-1} = 0

Now solve the associated equation
m112m0=0m^1 - \dfrac{1}{2}m^0 = 0

Then an=a1mn1a_n = a_1 m^{n-1}

for m and use a1=3a_1 = 3.

blamocur gave a gave hint. I will go further with that hint.
a2= 3/2. Only one choice gives 3/2 when n = 2. Done.
