when you reflect an object over a line, what properties of the objects are present in its image?

It depends on what line you reflect across. If you reflect across the x-axis, for example, then for every point (a,b) in the original object, there will be a point (a,-b) in the reflection.

If you reflect across the y-axis, then for every point (a,b) in the original object, there will be a point (-a,b) in the reflection.

If you reflect across the line y = x, then for every point (a,b) in the original object, there will be a point (b,a) in the reflection.

The image will have the same size and shape as the object. That is the image will have sides the same length, corresponding angles the same and the same area. In other words the object and the image are congruent.
