Hi never been on this sight but hoping someone can help me with math problem for grandson. here it is :

it reads: Round each number to the place of the underlined digit:

89,100 the 9 is underlined
12,678 = 2 is underlined
36,539= 3 is underlined
4,842 = 8 is underlined
Please someone can you help asap!!!! thank you

To round to a given place, look at the digit one place to the right. If that digit is 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, leave the rounding digit as it stands, and replace the digits to the right with zeroes. If that digit is 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, increment the rounding digit (and, if there's a "carry", the digit to the left) by 1, replacing the digits to the right with zeroes. For instance, using your instructions:

. . . . .593646 becomes 593650

. . . . .593646 becomes 593600

. . . . .593646 becomes 594000

. . . . .593646 becomes 590000

. . . . .593646 becomes 600000

Hope that helps a bit.

Eliz.
