I was glancing over an SAT prep book and stumbled upon this:

(a^(1/3)*b^(1/2))^6 = 432
What does a*b equal?

Questions like these (with awkward exponents and two variables) I've been missing on the practice tests, and they seem oddly common. I would greatly appreciate any help!

Just follow this simple rule: (a^x)^y = a^(xy)

So [a^(1/3) * b^(1/2)]^6 = a^(1/3 * 6) * b^(1/2 * 6) = a^2 * b^3
