I've obviously put the values in but don't know what to do after that because they certainly don't prove the question

You say you "put the values in", but you didn't say in what.

Can you write an algebraic expression that means "y is inversely proportional to root x", please.

Well, equally obviously, i constructed the basic equation and put the values into that
I don't know how to do that on here sorry
Its something like y~1/rootx

No, it's not obvious. That's why I asked. Thank you for answering.

y~1/root(x) -- That's fine. As long as it can be understood it's great.

Since that is not an EQUATION, it's a little tough to tell exactly what you did to compare.

See if this EQUATION says the same thing to you: [math]y = \dfrac{A}{\sqrt{x}}[/math], where "A" is a parameter, yet to be determined.

Ok sorry
Similar, my textbook tells me to use a sign different to the equals sign but it doesn't matter unless you're trying to find the value k, or your A
I'm not sure whether you need to find out A, but thankyou for taking the time to try to understand my question
The reason for that is that you have to do that in a part b of the same question.
