Sigma Notation Part III

Here is your error. Yes, 1^2 + 2^2 +...+20^2 +21^2 + 22^2 +....+ 40^2 = 22140
Also 1^2 +2^2 +...+20^2 + 21^2 = 3311.
Now if we subtract we get 22^2 + 23^2 + 24^2 +.... + 40^2 = 22140 - 3311.

Now this last line is correct. The problem is that the lhs is NOT what you wanted!

Can you fix it?

Alright I fold. I have no idea. I know left hand versus right in terms of equations. But rearranging what we know doesn't change much beyond making the answer negative.
Maybe I should have said left hand side of the equal sign.
Please look at what the left hand side is. It is the sum of squares from 22 to 40. BUT you wanted the sum of squares from 21 to 40.
I hope this clears things up. If not, then just ask again!
