The question that I'm working on is this,

Write each of the following expressions as a single power of x.

a) x^-6*x^5
b) x^3/x^-6
c) (x^-6)^5

How do I write an expression as the single power of x? All help is appreciated!
Thank you!

Hi Rachel94,

Remember your properties of exponents?

[1] xaxb=xa+b\displaystyle x^a \cdot x^b =x^{a+b}

[2] xaxb=xab\displaystyle \frac{x^a}{x^b}=x^{a-b}

[3] (xa)b=xab\displaystyle (x^a)^b=x^{ab}
===================================
[a] x6x5\displaystyle x^{-6}\cdot x^5

Use rule [1]
----------------------------------------
x3x6\displaystyle \frac{x^3}{x^{-6}}

Use rule [2]
----------------------------------------
[c] (x6)5\displaystyle (x^{-6})^5

Use rule [3]
----------------------------------------
Let us know how you did.

Thank you for the help!
I understand it now, and was able to get all three finished.
