please show me how you were able to solve for x

5000= 200 x (1 - ( 1+.01)^-x)
_________________.01

only the (1 - ( 1+.01)^-x) is divided by .01 and not the 200.

Please do NOT use x for multiplication; use *

First simplify as much as possible:
1 - ( 1+.01)^-x = 5000(.01)/200 = 1/4
( 1+.01)^-x = 3/4

Remember that ( 1+.01)^-x = 1 / ( 1+.01)^x
So: 1 / ( 1+.01)^x = 3/4

I'll let you finish it.
