just started algebra and i am lost
this is the formula I need to solve can any one help.
x square root of 75xy - square root of 27x^3y

This isn't a "formula" or equation; there is nothing to solve, as posted. If the instructions said to "solve", then they are in error, or else necessary information is missing. :shock:

Since there is no "equals", this is not a "formula". Do you perhaps need to "simplify the expression"...?

Also, what is the expression? For instance, does "x square root of 75xy" mean any of the following?

. . . . .\(\displaystyle x\, \sqrt{75}\, xy\)

. . . . .\(\displaystyle x\, \sqrt{75x}\, y\)

. . . . .\(\displaystyle x\, \sqrt{75xy}\)

Or something else? What have you tried so far? How far did you get? Where are you stuck?
