Hi all, I'm having problems with a couple of equations. I've been trying to solve them but no matter How I approach them I alwas seem to get the same answers. I know they're wrong because I have the answer sheet. These are the two problems:

Solve for x:

5-2x/5 - 4-x/10 = 3/10 and 2x-5/12 - 3-x/6 = 11/12

the correct answers are: for the frist one is x = 1 and the second one is x = 11/12

but I got x = 17/3 for the first one and x = 11 for the second one. Can somebody please point me in the right direction what am I doing wrong. Heeelp Please. :(

In order for us to check your work, you'll need to post it.

Thank you.

Eliz.

ok this is what I got

5-2x/5 - 4 -x/10 = 3/10

2(5 -2x) = -1(4 -x) = 3

10 -4x -4 + x

6 -3x = 3

+6 +6

-3x/3 = 9/3

x = -3

and the answer sheet says x = 1
what am I doing wrong

please help

First marco, be CLEAR; your equation should appear with BRACKETS, like this:
(5 - 2x) / 5 - (4 - x) / 10 = 3 / 10

You're ok to here:
6 -3x = 3
+6 +6 : should be -6 -6
-3x/3 = 9/3 : so that's wrong

OK?
